Delta NDC Stakeholders Demand Release of Primary Election Results, Raise Concerns Over Delay
Stakeholders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Delta South have expressed concern over the continued delay in the announcement of the party’s primary election results, urging the national leadership to provide clarity on the situation.
The group said the prolonged wait for the official outcome of the primaries had generated anxiety among party members, delegates, supporters, and observers who participated in or monitored the exercise.
The stakeholders maintained that the NDC, which has positioned itself as a platform built on transparency, accountability, and internal democracy, should uphold those principles by ensuring timely communication with its members and the public.
According to the group, delegates who took part in the voting process deserve to know the outcome of the elections, while party faithful and Nigerians who have embraced the party’s vision are entitled to clear information about the process.
The statement, titled “Transparency Delayed Is Confidence Tested,” was signed by Dr. Benedict Ferife, Coordinator of Advocates for Transparency, Accountability and Democratic Participation.
The group acknowledged that administrative and verification procedures may be necessary before final results are released but stressed that prolonged silence could fuel speculation and uncertainty, potentially undermining confidence in the process.
