Delta Moves to Host 2026 President Federation Cup Final
Fresh from the success of hosting the 2023 President Federation Cup final, Delta State has formally entered the race to stage the 2026 edition of the competition. The Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Honourable Adode Godwin, says the state is fully prepared to deliver another high-quality football spectacle.
Speaking to journalists in Morocco during the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, Adode pointed to Delta State’s existing facilities, security framework, and hospitality culture as key strengths. He said the previous final in Asaba attracted fans from across Nigeria and set a benchmark for organisation and fan engagement.
Beyond hosting ambitions, Adode highlighted the state government’s sustained investment in football, particularly in Warri Wolves. He noted that financial support and logistical backing, including the recent provision of a new coaster bus, should spur the club toward improved league performance and a continental qualification spot.
He also confirmed that renovation work at the Warri Township Stadium is nearing completion and will be ready before year’s end. The upgraded facility, alongside the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba and planned improvements at the Sapele Stadium, is expected to strengthen Delta State’s football infrastructure.
