Delta LGA Chairman Lays Foundation For Ultramodern Market

In a significant development for Ika South Local Government area of Delta State, Hon. Jerry Ehiwarior, Executive Chairman, laid the foundation for the Alihame Ultra Modern Daily Market on Wednesday September 25, 2024.

The ceremony in Alihame, Agbor, drew local stakeholders and dignitaries, highlighting the project’s importance in meeting the growing demand for a modern market in a rapidly expanding community, home to the University of Delta (UNIDEL).

Ehiwarior emphasized his administration’s commitment to community-focused projects, stating, “This market will feature an abattoir, over 86 open shops, and 10 lock-up shops.”

He also mentioned ongoing projects, including the renovation of the Alifekede Daily Market and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance the area.

Expressing gratitude to the Alihame community for donating the land, Ehiwarior welcomed constructive criticism as a vital component of progress. He urged residents to monitor the projects to ensure quality and standards are upheld.

The contractor the project, Engr. Nduka Jerry gave assurances that the market project would be completed using high-quality materials by the agreement.

The modern market will be commissioned alongside other projects within 100 days of Ehiwarior’s tenure.
