The Director-General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Latimore Oghenesivbe, has disclosed that the state government has saved approximately N200 billion in operating costs for project executions since the inception of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
Dr. Oghenesivbe made this revelation during a courtesy visit by the executive and members of the Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to his office in Asaba, Delta State, yesterday. He stated that the savings were a result of the state government’s focus on efficient management and cost-saving strategies in project execution.
He further assured that the Oborevwori administration remains committed to settling all outstanding loans before the end of the Governor’s second term. According to Oghenesivbe, the state has already repaid about N160 billion of loans inherited from the previous administration. He stressed that Governor Oborevwori has vowed to ensure no loan is left unpaid by the time he completes his tenure.
Despite the financial commitments, Oghenesivbe affirmed that the state government would continue to fulfill its campaign promises, as reflected in the ongoing quality projects across the state.
During the visit, Vice Chairman of the Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Matthew Ochei, praised Dr. Oghenesivbe for his open-door policy and strong media relations, noting that journalists in the state highly appreciate his approach.
