The Delta State Government, in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Chevron Nigeria Limited, has moved to advance the construction of the Omadino–Okerenkoko–Escravos Road and Bridges project. The 70-kilometre route, which includes 29 bridges, is expected to improve access to Omadino and other riverine communities, boosting economic activities in the area.

He emphasized that only a reputable contractor capable of completing the work would be considered and announced the formation of a technical team to review designs, assess costs, and determine each stakeholder’s contribution.
The NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Sam Ogbuku, noted that the project had remained unfinished for years and stated that the renewed partnership with Delta State and Chevron as part of efforts to complete abandoned projects. Dr. Segun Kuteyi, Director of Operations Chevron Nigeria Mid-Africa Business Unit, added that the road would open Omadino and surrounding areas to development, enhance connectivity to Warri and Escravos, and benefit emerging businesses along the corridor.
All parties agreed to set up a joint technical committee to finalize designs, resolve right-of-way issues, and confirm stakeholder responsibilities before signing a Memorandum of Understanding. Once completed, the road promises to transform Omadino and neighboring riverine communities, providing safer, faster, and more reliable transport links for residents.
