Delta Govt Approves Hospital Transfer for FMC Ovwian

The Delta State Government has approved the transfer of the General Hospital in Otor-Udu to the Federal Ministry of Health to facilitate the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said the decision followed a Federal Government approval for a FMC in the area.

Onojaeme stated that the move as a significantly boost for healthcare delivery in Udu and surrounding communities, adding that it would also complement services at the Central Hospital in Warri.

In the same State Executive Council meeting, the government also approved the procurement and installation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines at Asaba Specialist Hospital, Central Hospital Warri, and Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara.

According to the health commissioner  the investment in diagnostic infrastructure was a major step toward modernizing healthcare services in the state.
