Deadly Festival Clash Turns Deadly in Agbarho

Agbarho community in Delta State has been gripped by fear after a violent confrontation between rival cult groups claimed a life during a local festival. The clash, which erupted between Monday and Tuesday, has forced many residents indoors amid concerns of further retaliation.

The first victim was attacked on Monday night and died from severe injuries the following morning. Within the same 24-hour window, another fatal incident was recorded, deepening the community’s anxiety over the renewed hostility.

Confraternity trackers and local observers reported that the Maphite and Eiye groups have allegedly entered a new phase of open conflict. Community members say both groups appear to have “declared war,” prompting warnings for residents to avoid sensitive areas.

The incident adds to a long-standing cycle of cult-related violence in Agbarho and surrounding parts of Delta State. As of Tuesday evening, security agencies had yet to issue an official response.
