The tragic incident unfolded in February 2022, when Bamise boarded a BRT bus operated by Ominikoron. She was later reported missing, and her body was discovered days later, abandoned by the roadside, naked and lifeless. The discovery sparked widespread outrage and public demands for justice.
Ominikoron was arrested after a thorough investigation, which led to his arraignment on charges of murder, rape, and conspiracy. Despite pleading not guilty, the court found overwhelming evidence connecting him to the crime.
In delivering the judgment, Justice Sonaike stated that the prosecution had successfully proven its case beyond reasonable doubt. As a result, Ominikoron was sentenced to death by hanging.
