Coronation Anniversary: Olori Atuwatse III Organises Free Medical Outreach In Warri
Ahead of the 3rd Coronation Anniversary of Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri, his wife Olori Atuwatse III has organised a free and widely attended medical outreach in Warri. The healthcare programme tagged “Wuwu Ore”, which commenced on Thursday August 15th at the Cottage Hospital, Upper Erejuwa Road Warri, is an initiative of the Royal Iwere Foundation.
Speaking at the programme, while appreciating partners and volunteers, the queen consort of Warri said this year’s edition was inspired by the need for women to thoroughly look after themselves as they cater to their families, especially in the light of current economic realities in the country.
She noted that women often overlook their welfare, whereas the burden of a healthy and thriving society rests on their shoulders. Warning that if mothers break down, the family and the society suffer. Hence, the need for regular medical check up.
Surgical, dental, eye, paediatrics and laboratory checks were the focus of this year’s edition as the outreach welcomed patients from various ethnic, religious, social and gender divides across the state.
In a chat with Warri Sentinel, Project Lead of the Foundation, Dr. Utake Ovwe, disclosed this year’s edition was the biggest they have organised thus far. He noted, “this is the biggest edition we have had since the inception of this program. We usually conduct it for one day but this year we have enlarged our scope by going three straight days and what a turn out we have had”.
He also disclosed that they recorded several partners and sponsors.
“We had Partners like the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Safari Pharmacy, Colgate, Women Medical Association of Nigeria (WMAN), Hypo, Nutrify, Addmie and several others who contributed to the success of this outreach.”
Birth certificates were also issued to beneficiaries, especially children.
