Abayomi Arabambi, who identifies as the factional National Publicity Secretary, in a television interview on Tuesday said the party’s National Executive Council would soon convene to formalise Obi’s expulsion.

He alleged that Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, violated party rules by publicly endorsing the coalition-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) movement, while still claiming membership of the Labour Party.

“You can’t belong to two political parties at the same time,” Arabambi said. “That is unconstitutional, and he knows it.”

Arabambi also claimed that Obi contributed to the leadership crisis within the party and questioned his fitness to lead any political platform.

However, Peter Obi has denied the allegations. In a recent interview, he insisted he remains a loyal member of the Labour Party, clarifying that his support for the ADC is rooted in shared values, not party defection.
