APC Suspends Edo South Candidate Over Anti-Party Allegations
The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended its 2023 senatorial candidate for Edo South, Mr. Valentine Asuen, over alleged anti-party activities. The suspension, announced in a statement by State Publicity Secretary Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, was described as a disciplinary action rooted in the APC Constitution (2022, as amended).
According to the statement, Asuen’s conduct was found to contravene several provisions of the party’s constitution, particularly those addressing actions capable of inciting division within the party. His suspension was therefore deemed necessary to preserve party unity and discipline.
The APC publicity secretary warned that no act capable of destabilising the party would be tolerated. He dismissed insinuations that recent political appointments under Governor Monday Okpebholo had been skewed, insisting that appointments were equitably spread across Edo State.
He urged members to remain committed to party values, warning that further cases of indiscipline or disloyalty would attract strict sanctions.
