A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Oviri Okwagbe, has dismissed claims of internal divisions within the party, insisting that the APC remains united and cohesive under a single leadership structure.
Speaking with journalists, Okwagbe refuted speculations of factionalization within the party. According to him, the party in Delta State is focused on strengthening its base and consolidating its influence rather than being distracted by internal disputes.
Addressing the political future of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Okwagbe cautioned against calls for him to contest in the next governorship election against the incumbent governor, Sheriff Oborevwori. He argued that such advice does not serve the senator’s political interests.
Okwagbe expressed confidence in Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, noting that the governor has continued to build political momentum across the state. He stated that Oborevwori is a responsive and forward-thinking leader committed to fulfilling his electoral promises.
Okwagbe further noted that Oborevwori’s governance style, integrity, and strategic approach to leadership have strengthened his standing among the people. He added that these qualities have already positioned the governor favorably for a potential second term.
The APC chieftain warned that any attempt to challenge the incumbent would likely be unsuccessful, given Oborevwori’s growing popularity and firm grip on the state’s political landscape.
