APC Adopts Consensus Candidates in Ughelli North

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ughelli North have settled for consensus candidates across wards, a move endorsed by the council chairman, Olorogun (Barr.) Jaro Movudu Egbo, during the ward congress in Ughelli Ward 1/5. Egbo attended the exercise as a delegate alongside other party stakeholders.

Addressing party members, the chairman cited provisions in the APC constitution permitting either consensus or balloting in selecting candidates. He said the method adopted in the local government reflects internal agreement among leaders and grassroots members.

The congress also witnessed the dissolution of the Ward 1/5 executive committee following a motion moved and seconded by party chieftains. Comrade Peter Odokuma subsequently emerged as the new ward chairman after the affirmation of fresh executives.

Egbo later spoke on preparations for 2027, expressing confidence in party unity and youth participation. He said the peaceful conduct of the congress strengthens support structures for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori ahead of the next general elections
