Amaechi Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition
Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has reaffirmed his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking in Kano after meeting with traders, Amaechi said he would not withdraw for any other aspirant, stressing that the party’s ticket must be contested openly. He maintained that he was one of the most qualified candidates and positioned himself as a unifying choice for the country.
Amaechi criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying Nigerians were unhappy with rising hardship and what he called exclusionary appointments. He said frustration cut across all regions, not just along North-South divides.
Despite claims that his influence in Rivers State politics has weakened, Amaechi dismissed such suggestions, pointing to what he called massive, unpaid turnout during his recent visit to the state.
