Idjerhe Kingdom Suspends Chiefs, Removes Clan Leader
Idjerhe Kingdom of Delta State, 17 traditional chiefs have been suspended indefinitely, and the clan leader of Idjerhe Central Oguedion, Chief Solomon Ojariafe, has been removed from his position.
The action, announced on January 25, 2026, followed allegations of misconduct, financial mismanagement, and insubordination. Chief Ojariafe was particularly criticized for inciting other chiefs to boycott a key royal event, the fifth coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, and for failing to account for a sum exceeding ₦25 million.
Spokesperson of the Kingdom, Uzzi Onosia James Obriki Crown, emphasized the need to uphold peace and order, asserting that the suspension was crucial for the stability of the kingdom. Chief Ojariafe’s actions, including meeting with a banned traditional chiefs’ group, were seen as a direct challenge to the authority of the kingdom’s monarch and other traditional leaders. The traditional council has urged the people of Idjerhe to remain peaceful as the kingdom works to resolve the matter.
