Delta Govt Moves to Reconstruct ECN Road in Udu, Ughelli South
Delta State Government has confirmed plans to reconstruct the ECN Road, a key link between Udu and Ughelli South Local Government Areas, as part of efforts to ease movement and stimulate economic activities in the area.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori said the intervention became necessary following sustained complaints from residents and road users over the poor state of the road, which has affected daily commuting and business operations. He gave assurances that the project would meet required standards and be completed within a clearly defined timeframe.
The governor made the announcement on Friday in Orhuwhorun while attending the memorial ceremony of late Chief and Madam Palama Akporhierayen. He also revealed that the long-delayed Udu Harbour Market, first awarded about 18 years ago, would soon be inaugurated.
Oborevwori noted that lasting development in Udu hinges on unity among stakeholders. Traditional rulers, including the Ovie of Udu, HRM Okporua I, and the Okobaro of Ughievwen, Owahwa II, were among dignitaries at the event.
