Tinubu Calls for Unity, Tolerance in Christmas Message

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to uphold religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence and national unity as Christians celebrate Christmas. In a goodwill message released on December 25, the president said the season provides a moment to reflect on the values of peace, love and salvation associated with the birth of Jesus Christ.

He extended greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the world, offering prayers for harmony, especially among citizens of different faiths. Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom and ensuring that no Nigerian faces violence or discrimination because of belief.

The president acknowledged the role of Christians in national development, noting that Christ’s teachings have inspired compassion for the vulnerable and encouraged community service. He also praised individuals and groups working to promote peace and tolerance, saying their efforts strengthen social cohesion.

Reflecting on his time in office since 2023, Tinubu said he remains committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s security, unity and stability. He urged travellers to exercise caution during the holiday season and expressed confidence that, with faith and collective effort, Nigeria would continue to progress, wishing citizens a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
