Delta, Federal Govt Advance Talks on Housing Development

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has intensified efforts to expand affordable housing in the state following a meeting in Abuja with the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in housing delivery, urban planning and infrastructure development, with the aim of improving living conditions for residents. Warri was highlighted as one of the priority locations under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope housing programme.

State officials said Delta has continued to make land and policy support available to attract federal and private sector participation in housing projects, including workers’ estates and mini-housing schemes. The government believes such partnerships will help reduce the housing deficit and ease pressure on rents.

Both sides agreed to sustain technical engagements to outline project timelines, funding models and community-based approaches. Additional meetings are expected in the coming weeks as plans are refined and translated into concrete housing initiatives across the state.
