UPU-America Supports Elderly Residents in Idjerhe for Christmas

Elderly residents across several Idjerhe communities in Ethiope East Local Government Area have received food support from UPU-America ahead of the Christmas celebrations. The organisation distributed bags of rice, oil, seasoning and other items to households in need.

The outreach, coordinated by Engr. Monday Obodo, covered communities including Ugbomoja Waterside, Okuodibo, Ajavwini, Idjedaka and Boboroku during a three-day visit from December 4 to 6. The team moved from village to village to ensure elderly people across the kingdom benefited from the gesture.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the support would ease the financial strain that often comes with the festive season. Many said the items came at the right time as economic hardship continues to affect rural communities.

Engr. Obodo thanked UPU-America for prioritising the welfare of the aged and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to longstanding cultural and humanitarian ties with Idjerhe kingdom.
