Waive Urges Delta Central to Boost Voter Registration

Hon. Francis Waive has issued a strong call to political leaders in Delta Central to intensify efforts toward mobilising eligible residents for the ongoing voter registration exercise.  Waive who represents Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives warned that the district could lose political influence if its shrinking voter numbers are not urgently addressed.

Speaking at a meeting of APC leaders and stakeholders in Effurun, the lawmaker noted that the district once delivered the majority of votes in Delta State but now contributes less than half of its former strength. He pointed out that the decline cannot be linked to conflict or disaster, raising concerns about complacency and lack of mobilisation.

Waive urged leaders to move registration awareness into every community, stressing that youths turning 18 and indigenes living outside the state must be encouraged to register. According to him, voter population directly shapes political bargaining power at both state and national levels.

He cautioned that failure to act now could leave future generations questioning the commitment of today’s leaders, insisting that Delta Central must restore its numerical strength ahead of the next election cycle.
