Low-Key Festivities for Nigeria at 65
Nigeria is marking its 65th independence anniversary this week with modest celebrations.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris said the theme was “All Hands on Deck” and confirmed that Friday prayers and Sunday thanksgiving had already taken place.
A key highlight will be the launch of the National Value Charter, which sets out government commitments to equality and inclusivity alongside citizens’ duties such as accountability and tolerance.
The government stated that campaign will use schools, communities, and digital platforms to instill patriotism and strengthen a culture of responsibility among Nigerians.
