UNIBEN Bars 5,000 Students Over Unpaid Fees
The University of Benin has blocked more than 5,000 students from sitting second-semester exams starting today over unpaid fees.
Officials said repeated reminders were ignored by those who failed to settle their tuition fees or apply for government-backed loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). The Registrar, Ademola Bobola, confirmed that the list of defaulters had already been circulated to invigilators.
The university stressed that the policy is meant to instill financial discipline and ensure fairness to students who comply with regulations.
