Edo Governor Pledges Compensation for Uromi Massacre Victims’ Families
The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has vowed to compensate the families of the 16 hunters killed in the Uromi massacre, following their tragic deaths.
Okpebholo, who visited Torankawa in Bunkure Local Government Area alongside Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other dignitaries on Monday, March 31, assured the victims’ families that justice would be swiftly served.
“I want to personally assure you that we are treating this case with the urgency it deserves. Okpebholo said. “Edo is home to all Nigerians, and such violence will not be tolerated.” He also promised both food and cash donations to support the affected families.

In a show of solidarity, hundreds of family members and hunters gathered for a peaceful protest, demanding justice for those killed. Protesters, carrying placards with messages such as “We demand justice for the killings of our people” and “Hunters are not criminals,” marched along the road leading to Torankawa village.
Other placards bore messages calling for an end to violence in the north, with slogans like “Killings in the North must stop”
