The alarm was raised on March 18 by a neighbour who reported a foul smell coming from the property on Idiangbona Street. Police officers forced entry into the apartment and discovered the decomposing bodies of the woman and her child, Warri Sentinel learnt.

According to the police, the woman had suffered a deep head wound, likely inflicted with a machete, while the child was found lifeless on a bed. The couple had been preparing for their wedding on March 29 before the tragedy occurred.

All evidence points to the fiancé as the prime suspect, who is believed to have gone into hiding.
Edo State Police Command is urging the public to come forward with any information that could help in the suspect’s capture. The bodies of the victims have been taken to the mortuary as investigations continue.
