Rivers Assembly Begins Impeachment Proceedings Against Governor Fubara and Deputy
The Rivers State House of Assembly has officially initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, over allegations of gross misconduct.
In a notice issued on Friday, March 14, the Assembly mandated its Clerk to publish the allegations in national newspapers.

The notice, directed to the appropriate authorities, reads: “In compliance with Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and other applicable laws, we, the undersigned members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, hereby present a Notice of Gross Misconduct by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State in the exercise of her official duties.”
This procedure outlined in Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), governs the impeachment process for state officials.
