Delta APC Rejects Omo-Agege’s Leadership Claim
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has rejected claims by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, that former Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has been recognised as the leader of the party in the state.
In a statement released on Friday, the APC in Delta described Morka’s announcement as “false and insensitive” to the efforts of party stakeholders working to strengthen the party. Valentine Onojeghuo, the state’s Publicity Secretary, argued that Morka’s statement was unilateral and did not reflect the official position of the party in Delta.
“The position of State Party leader is neither stipulated in the APC constitution nor subject to appointment by any individual,” Onojeghuo said. “Morka’s comments are personal ramblings, and at best, they show a lack of understanding of the political realities in Delta APC.”
The statement went on to criticise Morka’s attempt to impose leadership, warning that such actions could undermine party unity. “We will not allow such divisive declarations to derail our collective efforts,” the statement added.
Onojeghuo also urged party members to disregard Morka’s statement, labelling it as “self-serving” and a “misleading claim” that does not represent the views of Delta APC. He reiterated that the party operates within a democratic framework, where leadership is a shared responsibility.
The Delta APC further called on the national leadership to intervene and prevent Morka from making additional statements that could sow division. The party reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to strengthen the APC in Delta State.
