JUST IN: Police Release Isoko Comedian After Criticising Abandoned NDDC Project

The Nigerian Police has released Isoko-born Comedian Ajirioghene Otagba, popularly known as MC 2 Kingdom.

MC 2 Kingdom was taken into police custody on February 14, allegedly under the orders of Chief Matthew Edevbie, a contractor for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) who is also the elder brother of former Delta State finance commissioner and PDP governorship aspirant, David Edevbie.

The arrest followed a Facebook video where the comedian criticised the Isoko 132 KVA substation electricity project, which has long been neglected.

Warri Sentinel understands that Edevbie filed a petition accusing Otagba of defamation and cyberstalking due to the video. The comedian was initially detained by the IG Monitoring Unit in Lagos before being transferred to the Maitama Area Command in Abuja.

The political leadership of Isoko and the local community rallied behind Otagba, condemning his arrest and demanding his immediate and unconditional release.

They expressed strong support for his call to hold the contractor accountable for the abandonment of the project, insisting that the claims made in the video were a truthful reflection of the situation.

Upon his release, MC 2 Kingdom thanked the Isoko political leaders, youths and social media influencers who advocated for his freedom.
