JUSUN Issues Ultimatum to Tinubu Over Minimum Wage, Threatens Shutdown of Court Activities

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding the full implementation of the national minimum wage and additional benefits for judicial workers. The union has warned that failure to meet these demands will lead to an indefinite strike, effectively paralyzing court activities across the country.

In a statement released after an emergency meeting at the union’s Abuja secretariat on Wednesday, February 12, JUSUN announced that the deadline would end on February 19, 2025. Should the government fail to take action by then, the union has pledged to begin a nationwide strike on February 20, 2025.

The union is insisting on the full implementation of the newly agreed ₦77,000 minimum wage for judicial workers, alongside other entitlements.

JUSUN pointed out that other public sector employees have already begun receiving the revised salary, and it is important that judiciary workers are treated equally.

This latest move follows a previous 21-day ultimatum that expired without any response from the government.
