False Claims Against Olu of Warri Part of Effort to Discredit Him, Says Chief Erewa
Chief Godday Oritsewino Erewa, the Oritsuwa of Warri Kingdom, has condemned allegations accusing His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, of being involved in pipeline vandalism and illegal oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta region.
In a statement issued from his office in Abuja, Chief Erewa, who is also a prominent Prince of Etikan Kingdom in Ondo State, described the claims as baseless and part of a malicious campaign aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the monarch. Chief Erewa stated that the accusations, which have sparked concern across the region, are fueled by misinformation and self-serving interests.
“These allegations are not only unfounded but are part of a deliberate effort to mislead the public and cause unwarranted tensions in the region,” Chief Erewa said.
He stressed that the Olu of Warri has consistently championed peace, security, and socioeconomic development in the Niger Delta, and has worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of public assets.
The accusations suggest that a company chaired by the monarch may be involved in illegal oil activities. Chief Erewa, however, rejected these claims, noting that the Olu’s leadership has always been transparent and committed to ethical conduct.
“At this point, it’s important to recognize that these accusations come at a time that could potentially harm the Olu’s reputation, which has always been grounded in his work for the betterment of his people,” Chief Erewa stated. “The Olu’s commitment to transparency and peace is unparalleled.”
Chief Erewa urged the public not to be misled by these false narratives, adding that the Olu of Warri has been a key figure in promoting stability and development in the region. He further called for unity and vigilance against attempts to undermine the progress made in the Niger Delta.
