Tinubu Promotes Climate-Smart Agriculture at Abu Dhabi Summit

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to diversifying energy sources and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, aligning with global efforts for a sustainable future.

President Tinubu made this known during his speech at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week on Wednesday.

The President stated that the country is focused on climate-smart agriculture to improve food security while reducing environmental impacts.

In his address, titled “Climate Imperatives into Economic Prosperity: Bridging Africa’s Global Energy Future,” President Tinubu noted Nigeria’s role as Africa’s most populous nation and one of its largest economies in leading the continent’s energy transition and climate initiatives.

He added that Nigeria recognizes the responsibility to demonstrate leadership in addressing climate change. The President therefore called for the promotion of global cooperation, international collaboration to achieve sustainable development.

Speaking further, President Tinubu outlined his administration’s focus on three core pillars: energy transition, climate resilience, and sustainable development, stating that Nigeria is committed to reducing carbon emissions through cleaner energy alternatives and fostering economic growth.

He also mentioned the approval of policies such as the national clean cooking gas policy, which aims to reduce the region’s dependence on traditional fuels and promote cleaner energy.
