Delta Community Demands Justice for Murdered APC Leader

Community leaders in Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, have called for justice following the gruesome murder of prominent businessman and APC member, Sir Paul Ofor.

Ofor, who was also an ex-official Member and National Adviser of the Issele-Azagba Development Union (IADU), was killed by unknown assailants on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in his office at the junction of the Benin-Asaba Expressway.

While briefing newsmen on Wednesday, January 1, the people of Issele-Azagba expressed shock and dismay over the brutal killing, urging the Delta State government and security agencies to swiftly investigate the crime. The community leaders voiced concerns over the lack of progress in the investigation, with no visible action taken more than three weeks after the incident.

The conference was attended by IADU officials, traditional chiefs, and family members of the deceased, including Ofor’s son, Robert Kanayo Ofor, and the community’s youth leader, Kingsley Nnasiana.

Elder Patrick Isichei, the National President of IADU, addressed the gathering through his deputy, Obi Osiagwu, stating that the community was struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

“The late Ofor had no history of violence or criminality,”

“The usual pomp and pageantry that envelope in the community during Christmas and New Year festivities is not there because of the shock created by the incident.” Isichei said.

The IADU also raised concerns over the growing sense of insecurity in the community, highlighting that local social and economic activities had been severely disrupted since the murder.

The police are yet to comment on this.
