Kwankwaso Refutes Allegations of Alliance With Tinubu

Rabiu Kwankwaso

Former governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso has dismissed allegations suggesting he is working for the political interest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Kwankwaso, who spoke during an interview on Wednesday night, said the rumours have been circulating since his time in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Sanusi Bature, spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, had alleged that Kwankwaso, a former national leader of the NNPP, was indirectly supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Bature also claimed that Kwankwaso worked in Tinubu’s interest during the 2023 elections and recently sought a direct meeting with the President, which reportedly did not happen.

Reacting to the allegations, Kwankwaso dismissed the claims, saying only “foolish people” would believe such narratives.

“I think only foolish people would believe that. We are not working for anybody. We are only working for NDC,” he said.
“Bola Tinubu has been my senior brother and good friend up till now. But that doesn’t mean we shall pull all our political ideologies together with him.

“He is doing his own and I am doing my own.”
