Tinubu Heads to France Ahead of Africa–France Summit
President Bola Tinubu has begun a three-country diplomatic trip with his departure from Abuja to France on Sunday. The presidential jet took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, marking the first leg of engagements that will span Europe and East Africa.
From France, Tinubu will travel to Nairobi to participate in the Africa–France Summit scheduled for May 11 and 12. The meeting, to be co-hosted by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will centre on energy transition, climate initiatives, digital innovation, and strengthening economic cooperation between Africa and global partners.
The Nigerian leader is also billed to attend the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali from May 14 to 15, where business executives and policymakers will examine pathways to investment and economic expansion across the continent.
Officials say the trip is part of broader efforts to position Nigeria as a key destination for foreign investment while reinforcing strategic partnerships through direct engagement with global stakeholders.
