Obidients Rally Nationwide Support for Obi After ADC Exit

Supporters of Peter Obi are doubling down on their loyalty, pushing back against criticism that has trailed his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and his history of party switches. Despite moving from APGA to PDP, then Labour Party and most recently the ADC, the Obidient Movement insists his political relevance remains intact and is gaining ground.

Interim National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, said momentum around Obi’s ambition is rising, pointing to increased mobilisation and the spread of new support networks across the country. Among them is the “Peter Obi 4 President Movement,” led by Awal Abubakar Rafin Kuka, which is said to have established structures in 19 northern states.

The group argues that criticism labelling Obi a political drifter has not weakened his base but instead reinforced support among followers who see his movement as driven by ideas rather than party platforms. They maintain that the call for reform and accountable leadership continues to resonate with a growing segment of Nigerians.

Obi’s departure from the ADC, which he attributed to internal instability, political interference and a hostile environment, has further intensified debate about his next political move as the 2027 race begins to take shape.
