FG Declares March 19, 20 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026
The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended his congratulations to the Muslim community for the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister encouraged Muslims to continue embodying the core values of Ramadan—such as love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice—beyond the fasting period. He emphasized that reflecting these virtues in daily life would contribute to fostering national unity and harmony.
Tunji-Ojo also called on all Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, to use the festive occasion to offer prayers for the nation’s peace, unity, and continuous progress.
