One Dead, One Missing as Boat Capsizes at Ugbokodo Waterside
A passenger boat carrying nine persons capsized Tuesday evening at Ugbokodo Waterside, Delta state, leaving one person dead and another still missing.
WS News can confirm seven passengers were rescued shortly after the incident along the Ugbokodo–Egbokodo water route between Okpe and Warri South LGAs.
Two were initially reported missing, but one body was recovered this morning, while search efforts continue for the remaining victim.
The tragedy has renewed calls from residents and authorities for stricter safety measures, including mandatory use of life jackets and avoiding boat overloading.
