₦230bn Delta Transport Plan Targets New Bus Terminals in Asaba, Warri, Sapele

Delta State has announced plans to modernise its public transportation system as part of a broader ₦230bn infrastructure investment aimed at improving mobility, safety and urban planning.

The government says new bus terminals will be constructed in Asaba, Warri and Sapele. Officials describe them as modern hubs designed to replace informal loading areas, ease congestion and enhance commuter experience through digital ticketing, waiting lounges and better safety measures.

The project is being driven by a capital-focused budget in which nearly two-thirds of government spending is set aside for infrastructure. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration says this reflects a long-term vision to improve the urban environment and stimulate job creation.

Transport Commissioner Agofure Onoriode said the initiative would follow global standards and include stakeholder consultations. If successful, analysts believe the programme could position Delta as a model for urban transport reform across Nigeria.
