₦1.3tn Claims Against Okowa False, Politically Driven — Aide

Supporters of former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, have pushed back against fresh allegations of ₦1.3 trillion allegedly missing during his administration, insisting the claims are unfounded and politically motivated.

The allegations, raised by a group identifying as Delta North youths, have stirred controversy in the state, but Okowa’s former Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, maintained that the narrative is being deliberately twisted ahead of the 2027 elections.

He clarified that Okowa was never detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), explaining that the former governor only honoured an invitation in 2024 and left after answering questions from investigators.

Ifeajika also pointed to published financial records of the administration, which he said show that Delta State generated about ₦2.65 trillion during Okowa’s tenure, while defending key projects and achievements attributed to his time in office.
