Workers Protest Against Poor Conditions at Chevron Nigeria
Employees of Ugborodo Intercontinental Service Limited (UISL) have staged a peaceful protest at Chevron’s Escravos Tank Farm, demanding improvements to working conditions.
In an interview with Warri Sentinel on Tuesday, April 2, Tuoyo Omajugho, Chairperson of the protsest, disclosed the protest follows a proposal submitted six months ago, which remains unanswered.
“Since last year, we submitted a proposal, but no response. We have been working for several years, what we want is improved work conditions to complement our salary”

Their demands include: Comprehensive healthcare for employees and their families, daily transport to and from work, a one-month salary as a year-end bonus, prorated for shorter service, 200% pay for work on public holidays, a 21-day on, 14-day off schedule for field workers, one-month salary bonus at Christmas, prorated for those with less than a year of service, Merit-Based Increments: Annual performance reviews with salary increases and housing allowance for employees.
The protest reflects growing concerns over employee welfare at Chevron Nigeria Limited, with negotiations ongoing.
