Video: Woman Commits Suicide in Uvwie, Delta State

Sad day in Uvwie as an unidentified middle-aged woman has committed suicide in the Ekpan Area of the LGA.

The yet-to-be-identified woman ended her life by falling backwards off the Ekpan flyover Bride leading to the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) shortly after the state’s sanitation exercise.

Warri Sentinel gathered from one of the onlookers who simply gave her name as Juliet, that the woman ascended the bridge just like one of those fitness people who jog around early hours of each day. 

Commenting on the viral video which was filmed by one of the eyewitnesses, Miss Juliet said, “I saw  the woman on the bridge praying when I was going to my shop. Today being environmental sanitation day observed all over the State, there were very few people and vehicular movement on the road.”

She continued, “the way she was standing on the edge of the middle of the bridge, I had thought it was one of those fitness moves because it is a regular sight seeing gym people jog across the bridge when going to work in the morning. 

“But the next thing we heard was a loud bang on the tarred express road. It was the woman. I do not think people expected her to fall off the bridge just like that. 

“I feel very sad because I couldn’t help save the woman. I am very angry at the same time because those under the bridge could have caught her. But they all were standing looking at what the woman would do next. Now she’s dead.”

In the viral video, a number of persons could be seen observing what the woman was up to. Some thought it was a form of meditation, others argued that she was going to jump suicidally while others stood by with their phones recording the ugly scene.
