Udu Kingdom Gets New Monarch
The Okporua ruling house in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, has formally endorsed Chief Engineer Michael Orugbo as the Ovie-elect of the Udu Kingdom.
The decision was reached unanimously by representatives from the five constituent communities of the Okporua ruling house: Ogbe-Udu, Okolo Water Side, Okolo Inland, Oghior, and Ukpiovwi.
Following his official enthronement, Chief Orugbo will assume the title Okporua I throughout his reign.

Celebrations have already begun in Udu, with community members expressing hope for a peaceful and prosperous era under the new leadership. Traditional chants of “Uduọvo!” echoed across the kingdom following the announcement.
This development marks a significant moment in the cultural and political life of Udu Kingdom, as residents prepare to formally welcome their new monarch in a traditional ceremony.
Chief Orugbo hails from Ogbe-Udu town and is widely respected within the community for his contributions as an engineer and community leader.
