Two Feared Dead as Cult Rivalry Erupts in Ibusa
A fresh wave of violence has occurred in Ibusa, Delta State after a clash between rival cult groups left two people dead. The confrontation involved members of the Aye confraternity, also known as the Neo Black Movement (NBM), and the Vikings confraternity, popularly referred to as DNKI.
The unrest was triggered by the killing of an Aye member identified as Precious, widely known as “Oboy.” Residents claim he was allegedly lured to a meeting on February 28 over a dispute linked to an online transaction. What was believed to be a peace move reportedly turned fatal, as he was stabbed shortly after arriving at the venue.
The incident sparked retaliation the following day, with suspected Aye members reportedly carrying out a counter-attack that claimed the life of a Vikings member known as Disco. The renewed violence heightened fear across the community, forcing many residents to remain indoors.
On March 2, vigilantes in the Eziukwu area apprehended two suspected Vikings members who were allegedly found with a firearm. Despite reports of isolated confrontations, authorities have confirmed only two fatalities so far. The police command in Delta State is yet to issue an official statement on the situation.
