Transcorp, TEF Empower 3,200 Entrepreneurs in Niger Delta
Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group) has achieved a major milestone in its collaboration with the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) following the announcement of 3,200 beneficiaries for the 2026 edition of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme. The initiative supports young African entrepreneurs, with each selected participant receiving $5,000 in seed capital to help launch or expand their businesses across the continent.
Transcorp Group sponsored 625 entrepreneurs in this year’s cohort, raising its cumulative total to 1,250 empowered entrepreneurs since the partnership began. The Group has now invested over $2 million in direct funding through the programme, underscoring its sustained commitment to fostering enterprise and economic growth in Africa.
Speaking at the announcement, TEF Founder, Mr. Tony O. Elumelu, CFR, emphasized that Africa’s future lies in the hands of its entrepreneurs, who drive job creation and tackle the continent’s most pressing challenges. He noted that empowering business owners remains the most sustainable path to economic transformation, reaffirming his dedication to creating tangible opportunities for young Africans.
Reflecting on the partnership, President and Group CEO of Transcorp Group, Owen D. Omogiafo, OON, highlighted the real-world impact of the initiative, particularly in Delta State, home to Transcorp Power Plc in Ughelli. She noted that the Group has empowered 625 entrepreneurs in the state through the programme in a single year, calling it a clear demonstration of its deepening commitment to host communities and inclusive development.
