Tompolo Honoured in London for Environmental and Economic Impact
Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has been honoured by his kinsmen in the diaspora, Warri Sentinel has learnt.
The Niger Delta Ex Crusader was awarded by the Ijaw People’s Association of Great Britain and Ireland during the 76th Ijaw Day celebration which held at the weekend in London.
Mr. Ekpemupolo was recognised for his significant contributions to environmental protection and economic development in Nigeria’s Niger Delta.
Tompolo’s efforts in pipeline surveillance through his firm, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, have been crucial in reducing crude oil theft, protecting the environment, and creating local employment.
The Ijaw People’s Association commended his work in safeguarding natural resources and fostering economic growth.
Prominent figures including Prof. Benjamin Okaba, President, Ijaw National Council (INC) and Bubaray Dakolo praised Tompolo for his impactful role in improving security and reducing pipeline vandalism. President of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Jonathan Lokpobiri called for national recognition of Tompolo’s achievements, citing the positive environmental changes resulting from his initiatives.
The award underscores Chief Tompolo’s dedication to protecting the Niger Delta and advancing regional development.
