Tinubu Rewards Super Falcons with National Honours, $100k

President Bola Tinubu has honoured Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, with national awards and cash rewards following their victory at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

All 24 players have been conferred with the title Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), one of the country’s highest national honours. The 11 members of the coaching and technical crew were also recognised.

President Tinubu also announced financial rewards equivalent to $100,000 for each player and $50,000 for each technical staff member. He also directed the allocation of three-bedroom apartments to all awardees.

Speaking at the ceremony in Abuja, President Tinubu hailed the team’s performance as a source of national pride.

“You have shown exceptional commitment and reminded us of the strength of the Nigerian spirit,” he said.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Africa’s most decorated women’s football team, continue to serve as a symbol of resilience and excellence both at home and on the international stage.
