Tinubu Meets Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara in London

President Bola Tinubu reportedly met with suspended Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, during his ongoing working visit to London.

The meeting which held on Tuesday, although not officially confirmed by the Presidency, is believed to have been initiated by Fubara himself, according to sources close to the situation.

However, an insider with knowledge of the meeting revealed that this was the first face-to-face discussion between the two since President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, suspending Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the entire state assembly.

President Tinubu had appointed a sole administrator to oversee the affairs in the state, citing severe political instability which had paralyzed governance and threatened national security.

Reports suggest that the London meeting was aimed at easing the political tensions in Rivers and potentially finding a way to restore governance before Fubara’s six-month suspension expires. However, details of the discussions remain unclear.
