Suspected Herdsmen Attack Leaves Uniben Graduate Dead In Delta

A tragic incident was reported on Monday, March 16, in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State after a young man identified as Joshua Umokoro, a graduate of the University of Benin, was found dead on a farm in Jesse community.

According to a source in the area, Umokoro had gone to the farm at Edeje-Irhodo Farm in Jesse but failed to return home, raising concern among family members and residents.

Following his disappearance, youths from the community reportedly organized a search party to look for him in the surrounding farmland. During the search, some unfamiliar individuals believed to be Fulani men were reportedly seen around the area and were taken to the Nigeria Police Force division in Jesse for questioning.

The search later ended in tragedy when other members of the search team reportedly discovered Umokoro’s lifeless body inside the farm.

The incident has sparked tension and concern among residents, who fear it may be linked to attacks by suspected herdsmen in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the circumstances surrounding the death.
