Suspect Linked to Firearm Sent to Late Oghenemine Arrested in Delta

A suspect alleged to have sent the firearm connected to the death of Oghenemine Ogidi has been arrested by operatives of the Effurun Area Command in Delta State.

The arrest was reportedly carried out by the Area Commander, ACP Aliyu Shaba, following investigations into how the weapon moved from Bayelsa State to Delta State before the incident that led to Ogidi’s death on April 26, 2026.

The development was made public by Ejumudo Kelvin, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, in a Facebook post on Thursday. According to him, the suspect is currently in custody at the Ekpan Police Station.

The arrest comes days after the Nigeria Police Force headquarters disclosed that the driver of the vehicle involved in the case, alongside two vigilante members, had gone into hiding and were being sought by security agencies.

Police investigations had earlier traced the pistol allegedly connected to the incident to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Authorities said the firearm was being transported to Sapele, Delta State, through a waybill arrangement before it was intercepted during investigations.

As of the time of filing this report, the police headquarters has yet to officially confirm the latest arrest, but security sources say efforts are ongoing to apprehend other persons linked to the case.
