Sponsored AD: Eric Igban Foundation Concludes Skill Acquisition Programme in Ugborodo

The Eric Igban Foundation has concluded its 2024 Skill Acquisition Programme with an exhibition of products by trainees, marking the end of a five-week empowerment initiative targeted at women, young girls and youths in Ugborodo and neighbouring communities.

The programme, which commenced on January 20, 2024, focused on practical skills including makeup artistry, headgear styling and baking. At the closing ceremony, participants showcased a range of products such as cakes, chin chin, doughnuts, meat pie, fish roll, egg roll and shawarma. Many of the trainees are already applying their skills commercially, with some seen marketing their products within the community.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Eric Igban Foundation, Dr. Andrew Omagbemi Igban, expressed appreciation to community leaders, youths, women and guests who supported the programme. He urged the graduates to continue building on the skills acquired, encouraging them to seek further knowledge, practise consistently and establish studios or bakeries with the aim of growing sustainable businesses.


Dr. Igban also announced a financial support package of four million naira to be shared among beneficiaries who successfully completed the training, as part of efforts to help them start or expand small-scale businesses. He acknowledged the presence and support of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Emomotimi Guwor, and his entourage at the event.

Rt. Hon. Guwor, who paid a courtesy visit to the Eghare-Aja of Ugborodo, Eghare Daniel Uwawah, Galassi II, before proceeding to the venue, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to put their skills to productive use. He assured them of his willingness to explore partnerships between the Delta State Government and the foundation to support human capital development initiatives.


The Speaker also commended Dr. Igban for the foundation’s projects, noting that its activities have positively impacted Ugborodo community, Warri South West Local Government Area and beyond. He pledged to draw government attention to developmental needs in the area. The programme ended with the presentation of certificates to all graduating participants, as the foundation reaffirmed its commitment to empowering future generations.
