Seven Arrested as Police Free Kidnapped Workers in Ubeji

The Delta State Police Command has carried out a string of successful operations in Bomadi and Ubeji, leading to the arrest of several suspects linked to kidnapping and illegal arms activities. The breakthrough followed a distress call on October 30, 2025, alerting officers to the abduction of three dredgers behind the Ubeji Gas Plant.

CSP Labe Joseph, DPO of Ekpan Division, led a tactical team to the area, prompting the suspected kidnappers to flee into an abandoned poultry house. The building was swiftly secured, resulting in the arrest of seven men — Felix Omone, Solomon Omone, Tony Eboye, Omone David, Jerry Omone, Godspower Omone, and Edewho Bomele  all from Ubeji Community.

The victims, taken from a dredging site in Jeddo Community and ferried across a river as ransom demands intensified, were safely rescued during the operation. They have since been reunited with their families.

Police efforts to track down the remaining members of the gang are ongoing, alongside moves to recover additional weapons linked to the criminal network.
